Kompass
Kompass

Kompass is our shared guide to who we are, how we work, and what we believe in. It describes what we stand for, what we expect of each other, and the opportunities available to help us grow and develop our craft. Kompass is not a rulebook. It's a shared direction for everyone at Olavstoppen.
Knowing Olavstoppen
Olavstoppen started with a simple belief: great digital products are created when technology and design work together.
What began as a small design and development consultancy has evolved into a multidisciplinary product development environment, helping organizations understand problems, create solutions, and build products that matter.
Over the years, we've changed. New people have joined, new disciplines have been added and new technologies have emerged.
The one thing that hasn't changed is our ambition to combine thoughtful design, strong craftsmanship, and close collaboration to solve meaningful problems.
Today, Olavstoppen brings together designers and developers to solve complex problems and create digital products and services that make a difference, with the ambition to be a leading design and product development environment in Norway.
As specialists in defining and solving new and complex problems, we deliver complete, groundbreaking solutions for the actors who move our societies forward. Our scalable teams of experts are eager to take on any challenge - worldwide. Through organic innovation, we create products that help people live better lives.
Think. Create. Matter
Our vision consists of three simple words that, taken together, sum up what we are all about, what we want to achieve, and what legacy we wish to leave behind. The vision is a mantra that grounds us while giving us direction. It is an infusion of energy – something to keep us sharp. It inspires us to do our very best and to go places we haven't before.
It is a checklist for how we go about our day: how we interact and collaborate, the quality of the work we put in – the whole process of doing something meaningful together. When we leave the office on a Friday afternoon, can we check all the boxes?
Think. Have we used everything we know – to the best of our abilities?
Create. Have we made something of worth – that wasn't there before?
Matter. Have we done what we can to improve something in the world – to make it just a little bit better?

Working at Olavstoppen
Culture is what happens every day. It's how we work together, how we treat each other, how we handle disagreements, and what we choose to prioritise. At Olavstoppen, our culture is shaped by the people who work here and the values we try to live by every day.
We trust people
We don't believe good work comes from detailed instructions, endless processes, or someone constantly checking up on you. We hire talented people and trust them to use their judgement. With that trust comes responsibility, both for your own work and for the people around you.
We learn from each other
Nobody is expected to have all the answers. Some of our best discussions start with someone saying, "I might be wrong, but..." Asking questions, challenging assumptions, sharing knowledge, and helping each other solve problems are all part of the job.
We care about people
Strong teams aren't built by processes alone. They're built by trust, respect, and people who genuinely want each other to succeed. That's why we make time to help colleagues, share knowledge, celebrate wins, and support each other when things don't go according to plan.
We spend time together
Relationships matter here. Getting to know the people behind the role often makes both the work and the workplace better. That's why we make time to come together throughout the year, whether through social gatherings, company trips, celebrations, or simply sharing a meal or a conversation outside of project work. Not because every activity is mandatory, but because strong relationships rarely happen by accident.
We live our values
Fair, Dedicated, and Visionary aren't meant to be words on a wall. They show up in the choices we make every day. When we give someone the benefit of the doubt. When we take pride in our craft. When we share what we know. When we challenge assumptions. And when we step up to help when something needs attention. Culture is how values become visible.
Most importantly: Most importantly, culture isn't owned by leadership, HR, or this document. It's created by all of us, every single day.
As consultants, we help clients solve problems, make decisions, and move meaningful work forward. We combine strong expertise with a genuine understanding of the people, organizations, and challenges we're working with.
We're expected to bring good judgement, challenge assumptions when needed, and help clients navigate difficult decisions. Not because we always have the answer, but because we know how to find the right path forward.
We also believe expertise isn't worth much if you can't explain it. That's why we make an effort to create understanding, involve the right people, and make sure everyone understands the why behind the work.
Most importantly, we're here to create value and build trust. If we've helped a client make progress and left things a little better than we found them, we've done our job.
We believe the best work happens when people work together.
That sounds obvious, but good collaboration takes effort. It means sharing knowledge, asking questions, giving feedback, and helping each other succeed.
We don't expect anyone to have all the answers. We do expect people to contribute, communicate openly, and take responsibility for moving things forward.
Here are a few things we value:
Take ownership.
Share what you know.
Ask questions.
Ask for help.
Give feedback.
Be open to other perspectives.
Make room for others.
Communicate clearly.
Help your colleagues succeed.
Leave things a little better than you found them.
We also want everyone to feel included. If someone in the room doesn't speak Norwegian, we switch to English. That applies to meetings, workshops, documentation, and everyday conversations.
Collaboration isn't just about getting the work done. It's about how we work together while we're doing it.
Clients might not remember every workshop, presentation, or deliverable. But they will remember what it was like to work with us.
We build trust by being reliable, easy to work with, and genuinely invested in helping our clients succeed. We show up prepared, follow through on our commitments, and do our best to make things simpler, clearer, and easier to move forward.
Here are a few things we expect from everyone at Olavstoppen:
Understand what the client is trying to achieve.
Listen before jumping to solutions.
Come prepared.
Communicate clearly.
Follow through on what you promise.
Speak up when something doesn't look right.
Ask questions.
Take initiative.
Make complex things easier to understand.
Our goal is simple: when a project ends, the client should feel glad we were part of it.
