In a competitive broadband market, Altibox aimed to strengthen their position by growing beyond internet connectivity. As homes are increasingly filled with connected devices, with statistics showing an average of over 25 devices, customers need a simpler way to understand and manage their home network without technical expertise.

Olavstoppen worked with Altibox as part of a cross-functional product team, contributing throughout the design process from user insight and concept development to prototyping, validation, interaction design, and product design. Together, we developed Altibox Hjem, a mobile app that gives customers a clear overview of their home network and direct control over connected devices and services.Technical functionality was translated into clear information and simple actions. Customers can organise connected devices for easier oversight, create profiles to personalise network access, and set schedules and parental controls to promote healthy digital habits.Features like blocking unwanted and unknown devices and sharing wifi access give customers greater security and flexibility. While the ability to restart the router and receive guidance when installing new equipment means common support issues can be solved directly in the app, reducing the need for technical assistance.
