Lyse Energi's mobile app was outdated, hard to navigate, and lacked user-friendly features. Customers struggled to access clear information about their energy consumption and electricity prices. To improve the user experience and provide practical insights, the app needed a complete overhaul.

Challenge

The old app had a confusing interface, delayed energy data (up to 24 hours), and lacked smart features. Users needed faster updates and tools like EV charging control. They also wanted simplified explanations of complex energy concepts to make informed decisions.

Solution

We tackled presenting complex energy data in a simple way, adapting to a dynamic energy market, and resolving internal data flow issues at Lyse Energi. We also navigated corporate constraints that sometimes limited our design team's creativity.

Using solid design principles, we built an intuitive interface and scalable platform to adapt to future needs. We relied on user testing to refine features and collaborated closely with Lyse's product owner, designers, and tech leads. When creative freedom was restricted, we shared our expertise to find compromises that balanced company goals with effective design.We chose Flutter to ensure consistent performance across devices and long-term app sustainability. Agile development allowed us to deliver high-quality features in sprints, with feedback integrated throughout. By addressing data ownership and responsibilities, we improved the app’s reliability and seamless integration with Lyse's systems.
